Turkey Chili Wannabe

This is another of my favorite comfort food recipes.

Turkey Chili Wannabe:

1 pound of lean ground turkey

3/4 cup of diced fresh tomatoes

1 cup of frozen corn

1/2 diced onion

2 cloves of garlic

1 1/2 cups of black beans

1 1/2 cups of chili beans, pinto beans or kidney beans

1  tablespoon of tomato paste

1/4 cup of chili seasoning

chili seasoning:

2 tablespoons paprika
2 teaspoons oregano
1 1/4 teaspoons cumin
1 1/4 teaspoons garlic powder
1/2- 1 1/2  teaspoons cayenne pepper (more or less depending on how spicy you like it)
3/4 teaspoon onion powder

Saute onions and garlic. Brown turkey with chili seasoning, then ass sautéed onions and garlic. In a large saucepan add tomatoes, corn, beans, and tomato paste.  Cook over medium heat for 20 minutes or add 1 cup of water and simmer on low heat for 1 hour.  Its not traditional chili, but still one of our favorites on a rainy afternoon.
